The 2nd Game Results

by Administrator on Dec.14, 2009, under Website Tech Updates

Our second game of Make or Break happened Wednesday night last week at around 11pm central standard time. It was fairly successful. While the previous game brought in about 4.2 million isk, this game brought in about 14+ million isk and included A Caracal and a Destroyer class ship called a Catalyst. While I still have a long ways to go before I expect to see more people trust it and play, it was still a success in my book.

Success?

by Administrator on Dec.05, 2009, under Website Tech Updates

Well, after the first night of showing the game in Eve doing a test run, it has proven to be successful and now have a few testimonials to show enthusiasm. With that done, and being pleased in the outcome, I will be pushing on ahead for the next game coming this Wednesday night. I’ll be doing 5 ships this time though…”maybe” doing a cruiser, but possibly not. We shall see. Anyway, thx again everyone that participated in the trial run and I’ll see you around next time :)

Below are the bids that were done for each of the three rounds.

Keep in mind my total costs were around 850,000.00 isk…not to shabby for low lvl stuff.

This one below is the Caldari Condor ship in which Ms Pwnage won.

This one below is the Amarr Punisher ship and was won by Gecko Gecko.

This one below is the Minmatar Rifter frigate won by Alageth.

Make or Break

by Administrator on Dec.05, 2009, under Website Tech Updates

Well I have the Eve Online game set up now and tonight is the first night run. Here is the advert for it:

Welcome to Make or Break!!!

Join channel Make or Break to participate!

The game show where you can turn your luck around in just one bid!

Full details of the show can be read here on the Official Eve Forums:

LINK

Here are the rules of the game:

I list a ship in channel, once per round.

When you click it, it will show everyone a detailed listing of what modules are equipped.

Then you have to submit a bid to me in the form of isk in what you think the total ship is worth on the market to my character to lock in your best guess. Your bid is the amount of isk you deposit into me.

The bid MUST fit inside the minimum and maximum amount I set at the start and also done within a minute of me posting the ship in the chat channel. I will be stating the time so that all may see.

After the bids are in place, I will take a snapshot of the bids and post to the blog located here for all to see:

linkage

The idea is to bid as close to the actual cost of the ship without going over. If you go over you lose. Who ever is the highest bidder wins the round.

If you are the winner, you not only win your money back, but also the ship, as well as 5 shares into the game show that later on will pay dividends to you when others play.

If you lose, you will at least win one share, as long as you didn’t go over the actual cost of the ship.

The Game Show Starts

by Administrator on Dec.05, 2009, under Website Tech Updates

So, I was thinking what would really be cool in Eve Online. I mean, it already has loads of scammers, rejects, corp thieves, Isk sellers, etc. What would be fun, and be entertaining to a lot of people? And I thought…what about a game show? So here is the pitch:

Early on this will be lacking a LOT of bells and whistles…but as time and popularity increases (fingers crossed), I can add more, such as live video streams, other game formats involved, bigger prizes, etc.

My main goal early on is to show people that this isn’t a scam. People in Eve Online are very cautious about giving out money to strangers, especially new alts. Why don’t I use my main alt? Because, like you, I enjoy my main alt, and what ever affiliation that alt has with others shouldn’t interfere with this game show. Sure there is profit to be made, but the idea is that Eve is such a creative online world, that creativity goes a long way in being successful. My idea is to have fun, and offer something different in Eve. There may be similar things that have popped up like this, but I want to make this big. Big enough to take notice of so that if someone in Eve says, hey, there is another game tonight, they know what your talking about. Lot of work I know, but thats whats fun to me!

Now, on to the idea of one of the early games.

Early on, I’ll be using an idea very similar to a USA game show, but not exactly. I’ll be calling this first type game, Make or Break. The idea is I will have 5 fully fitted ships set up and ready for the game. Each one will be rather inexpensive on up to somewhat expensive. I have MORE than enough ships starting out to last many MANY games, and as the games progress and show enthusiasm, I’ll add more and more. But, let me go into how this will work:

Ship number one for example may be a Rifter fitted up with what ever mods. (If you think the fitting is crap…well, so what. I will try to use some of the best fits i have seen on battle Clinic and my own, but sometimes you can’t please everyone). Ok, I will disclose the list of mods, rigs, etc. In one minute, contestants will have a minimum and maximum range of bidding that will take place. For example, for this rifter, i could state in one minute, you have to bid from 200k isk to 500k isk. The price with the mods and all could be something like 345k isk, but contestants must guess. To bid, you must deposit the money into the game hosts wallet. After bidding is finalized and all in within a minute, I will take a screen snapshot and post to the blog, in which ppl can see the results. I do this so all can see who bid and who won…to keep it honest. I want to add later video, but until I learn how, have to stick with pics. Its obvious that once the bids are in, the picture should go up immediately.

Here is the rules early on though for the first 3 game showings. When bidding, if you go over the actual costs, you lose. Only the person with the closest amount to the actual cost will win the bid. What the winner takes home is not only the ship, but all of his or her bid on that ship, as well as shares in the corp that entitle him or her to dividends from future game winnings. The losers will, while shares last, take home one share, as long as they too didn’t overbid. I will always round to the actual costs in the nearest thousand, such as if the ship costs 1,345,232 isk, I will round it down to 1,345,000 isk or if it was 136,735 isk, i will round it up to 137,000 isk to make it simpler. You can still bid any number you want, but the actual cost will be in that format. These costs will be a generalized cost amount of it’s purchase. I will not be taking the rough overall average of each item shown on the market as the cost, but rather the cost of the item that particular day during the week in which i looked at the items from the market and chose the cheapest one located in a particular trade hub of my choosing. I’ll figure in the price according to which of the markets I used and that will be it. The market may fluctuate later and it may not. It also doesn’t mean I used Jita’s market place either as the sole source of the total, but I’ll be sure to not use something completely unrealistic like someone selling a ship 500% times its normal value just because it is located in some spot in 0.0 space…nor something much lower than normal because someone is desperate for isk.

After the first 3 game showings, the winner will still get to take home 5 shares, but after that, only the next closest 3 bidders that did not go over the actual cost will get 1 share.

I want to set it up though in which each game will have 5 ships. Starting with the lowest value ship all the way up to the highest value ships. I do this because not everyone early on will trust it, and I also do this because some people, especially noobs don’t have a bucket load of isk to splurge. The idea is for everyone to be able to participate on any given item up on the show. And early on will give all people, noobs and older a chance to get a share (as long as they do not overbid) which may be very profitable later to those people. It all depends on whether this is successful or not. Occasionally I will throw in a very expensive ship, if it catches on. I have a few on hand such as a Phantasm, Loki, CNR, Paladin, Nightmare, etc. And if the games really catch on, I’ll get more to add to the future games. But I will also keep simple ships too in order to cater to the needs of the lower class.

If ever there is a tie in the game bids that are the most accurate to the actual cost, Then the first time stamped bidder will win the bid. The idea is to leave a bid quickly enough as well as accurate enough to win. I thought about having a tie breaker put in, but realized there was an easy way to exploit the system…lol. Obviously some rules may undergo some changes over time, mostly in case of exploitation…but in general this is the layout of the game. Keep in mind bids not bid on in accordance with the price range given will not be accepted as bids. So if a person thinks they will bid 10 isk, even though there is minimum of 200k isk, that bid will not be accepted, but also not refunded either as I don’t have time for pranks either. If you bid, bid the most accurate you can.

Each game event MUST have 3 or more contestants or the money will be returned and the next event comes up. I cannot have 1 guy bidding and he alone wins because no interest early on takes place. I’m not here to give out free things to the needy…lol. Its a game show. There is no signup either. I will state early on when the time is for the next game show and have a chat channel set up. I will also post in local channel in which ever system I am in that the game will begin in 30 minutes and which channel to join.

At the end of each game showing, the total earnings will be dividend out to all share holders. After that, those that played the game will be sent their shares as well. Participants will only receive 1 share per game night that they participate in, unless they are a winner in which they can receive 5 per night that they win. I thought about allowing a share per event if it was participated, but chose not to in order to allow others opportunities to acquire shares as well. Shares will not be sold so don’t ask. You can purchase them from each other if you like, but as for me selling them, I will not be doing so.

Well, let me know your thoughts and any other ideas you may have about this. I want to try to start it this weekend.bob-barker

Up in Smoke…

by Administrator on Nov.30, 2009, under Website Tech Updates

So, today marked the death of one corp member in the corporation I infiltrated. I didn’t get to do it according to my latest plan, mainly due to my boredom of wasting my time with them. They don’t seem to work together at all and really mission and mine solo. So, I took it upon myself to use the newer less experienced alt to kill one of the members and it was satisfying enough for now. As a comeback, the member claimed I should have waited till he got into his hulk instead which should be soon. So, because of this, I’ll wait a little more till then and pop him in it when he fits it up…lol. Its not the best kill I have made, but it will do for now I guess.

Anyway, here is a video of the incident:

Hmmmm….that sounds fun!

by Administrator on Nov.19, 2009, under Website Tech Updates

Ok, sorry its been a while since my last post. been super busy with school and haven’t had hardly any time in eve. I have popped in a few times here and there and have been disappointed by the lack of this current targets members being online. While I debated on how to take care of this situation, I think I have come to a break-thru on how to handle it. I have an advantage since the members are usually logged in at different times with there usually being only one or two online. How can I work this to my advantage. Well, its simple. I have 2 characters in that corporation. They have not had any contact with each other, and as far as everyone else is concerned, they don’t know any different.

Now, to the juicy plan. I think the best course of action is to see how much damage I can do to them before I get booted. If I can be online while one person is online, then I can set them up in this manner:

I log in my newer alt, and while they are in, it would be just the three of us. My two characters and the other guy/gal. Now, I can go and pop this guy with my main, and have the other character post to the corp that this other guy attacked him while we two were missioning and I was afk. I came back online just in time to help defend him, and thus, blew up the “supposed” attacker. Once posted in the corp forums, and my main evemail the ceo, it turns into a he said she said debate. Except for one thing…it would be 2 verses one. All I have to do is pick a target that has no corp roles so that they can’t be trusted entirely…and voila. If I get booted…no big deal. If the other guy does..awesome and i can set up another person.

I want to get another alt in the corp before i do so in order to be able to set up the 2nd attack on a different person. If this works, it would be hilarious.

Don’t Lock the Car Door…Keys are Still Insi d e……nevermind

by Administrator on Nov.06, 2009, under Website Tech Updates

So, tonight after finishing up homework and waiting to see if I can register for classes for Spring semester, I log into Eve to do some recon on this corp I’m in, find out all the goodie info. Nothing. A few were logged in, but they were all afk ;p

So, I looked to the other chat and found that all the members of the previous corp are online. They had planned to venture out into w-space again and attempt the sleepers. So, I asked if I could join since I had no action on my end. So we all got together, and grouped up and headed towards the wormhole in 2 Drakes, a Myrm, a caracal, a Minnie Dessy, and Khal in the probe ship. Upon entering the wormhole, I right-clicked it to check out it’s status and to see if it was new or old. As the others began warping in, I noticed it reduce its size by almost 3 times its normal size, and before I could type in chat that I think the wormhole is collapsing…..poof….it disappeared.

My first though was crap, I new I should have clone jumped in order to save these implant I have in my head. With no exit, we were kinda stuck. So Khal began to start probing while I mapped out a few safe spots in the system while scanning to see if we were alone in the hole. Didn’t want to have other guests in there. After we all met up at a safe spot, The ceo mentions that there are 2 spots in local that had sleepers. So I warp to them to check them out and they were good for us to take down. Called in everyone and we had a good time shooting up some frigs and cruiser sized sleepers. Not sure if it was their real first encounter, but I’m sure it brought a smile to their face and showed them good team coordination.

Khal finally traced down an exit wormhole in the system after we killed off the third sleeper spot and so we all exited out due to not wanting to push our luck anymore on how stable the hole may be. It dumped into a lowsec spot in eve, and wasn’t to far away from the original entrance. But, since it was lowsec, we had to warp together as a group incase of any gate camps. It was all safe though all the way back home. I’m sure they got a little decent worth of loot from the trip, and maybe now they will want to go again more often. Was fun stuff :)

Well That Was an Ordeal!

by Administrator on Nov.06, 2009, under Website Tech Updates

Thanks AT&T for your DSL business… ;p

AT&T continued their last attempt at giving us terrible internet this Tuesday evening and so we moved on to Cable One. Better speeds at the same pay…I like that!

So since that occurrence, I have been unable to update the blog until now. Sorry for the delay, and without further delay, here is the update:

The corporation I was attempting to gain access to has been successful. I was let in without any sort of real background check, which is good because had they done a little digging, and I mean just a LITTLE BIT…they would have been introduced to the Bessemer Corporation who helped me “involuntarily” that is to create the following video in which I had to use many of their ships in the scenes. (Click link below for a youtube video of it)

Touched By A Pirate

In case it wasn’t evident, the ships blowing up were theirs…lol. They really weren’t happy about it for some reason and they booted me from the corp before I could finish the video. I had to war dec them to finish getting kill shots. Cost me 2 billion isk, but it was worth it, and apparently the Eve community thought the video was “Brilliant”. So had they asked that particular corp, I’m sure my application would have been turned down.

As far as in my alt, my friend is continuing to train her and it shouldn’t be long before she is ready to commence with some ebil intent. I on the other hand still need to hash out all the details I can, and since my family is going out this weekend, I don’t think out event will happen this weekend. It may have to wait till the middle of next week or early next weekend. I’ll know more by Sunday evening for sure.

I actually may try out the Loki this time, although I’m not sure yet.
